A family attraction near Bristol has hit back at the ‘rude’ reaction it has received due to half-term opening times.

The Cattle Country farm park in Berkeley is opening Friday, February 17 to Sunday, February 26, to tie in with Gloucestershire half-term dates, but many children in Bristol and South Gloucestershire started their half-term holidays this week.

The owners of the popular attraction took to social media after receiving ‘rude’ phone calls and emails when people realised the half-term dates were different either side of the border.

“Despite schools in some counties being off for half term this week, many of our staff go to school or college in Gloucestershire and we are therefore not able to open before Friday 17th February.

“We understand the frustration of families in South Gloucestershire and Bristol, but we cannot condone the rude phone calls and emails that we have received regarding this matter.

“Please treat our brilliant and hard-working team with the respect they deserve. We are already reviewing holiday dates for this year and next so that we can try to avoid this situation in future.”

Posting on the Cattle Country Facebook page, Christine Laing said: “Really disappointed to see you’re not open for children’s half-term week. Was recalling hoping to visit.”

But Louisa Taylor visited over the weekend instead and said: “We are on half term this week but came yesterday. We had a really great day.. the kids absolutely loved it all and so did us adults!”
