Crews remain at the scene next to Turbo Island to ensure there’s no further fire spread

Firefighters were called after reports of a blaze at a restaurant in Stokes Croft today.

Crews from Temple and Bedminster were called at 12.33pm and found a fire in the ground floor kitchen of the Cafe Cuba restaurant next to Turbo Island.

The firefighters used two high pressure hose reels to extinguish the blaze. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke and four firefighters wore breathing apparatus for safety.

All persons were safely evacuated from the restaurant and the flats above.

Crews remain at the scene to ensure there’s no further fire spread. Police and ambulance crews are also in attendance.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire & Rescue Servic said the cause of the fire is thought to be accidental ignition.
