A six-metre-tall animatronic dinosaur has gone up in flames in Ashton Court’s woodland garden, this morning (October 13).

Firefighters were called to the popular beauty spot at around 10.55am today after reports that the 10-metre-long and six-metre-tall diplodocus model was on fire.

One lone firefighter, wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the fire using a high-pressure hose.

The model was due to be on display as part of the national Jurassic Encounters tour, due to open this weekend, taking up residence on the Ashton Gate estate until October 30.

The diplodocus was reduced to ashes following the blaze.

However, the show offers around 50 other life-sized animatronic dinosaurs.

The cause of the fire is believed to have been an accident.
