A woman in her 60s was threatened with a 10 inch knife by a masked man at a nature reserve in an attempted robbery.

The incident happened at Manor Woods Valley in Bishopsworth, near the duck pond, on December 15, between 11.20am and 11.30am.

The victim was approached by the male who threatened her with the knife and demanded money.

The woman was not physically harmed but was left distressed.

Avon and Somerset Police have launched an appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information on what happened.

The offender was described as white, with short brown hair, being in his mid-late teens and of a slight build.

He was wearing a blue face mask.

Latest crime figures for November last year show the area, Bishopsworth, saw its highest monthly number of recorded crimes in a year.

There were 115 incidents in the month, including 30 reports of violence and sexual offences.
