Woman, 35, dies in hospital after major crash near Cabot Circus

A woman from Bristol has died in hospital following a serious crash in Bristol city centre.
It happened in the Newfoundland Circus area, by Cabot Circus, just after midnight on November 5.

Hide AdThe 35-year-old woman had been driving a Honda Jazz, which was struck by a Volkswagen Tiguan at the junction of the A4044 and A4032.
Avon and Somerset Police said the Volkswagen had earlier been seen being driven at excess speed and failed to stop for officers in the York Road of Montpelier.
Following the crash, the woman in the Honda was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.
She remained in a critical condition until police announced today that she had died.

Hide AdThe passenger of the Honda, a man, was also taken to hospital with injuries which were not life-threatening.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family at this difficult time.
“A 19-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy remain released under investigation in connection with our ongoing investigation.”
The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to the police involvement ahead of the crash.
