A woman has suffered ‘significant injuries’ after being hit by a car in Bristol city centre last night (January 14).

The incident happened in Redcliffe Way at around 10.30pm.

Avon and Somerset Police say the woman was taken to hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.

Road closures were put in place to facilitate an investigation at the scene before they were lifted at around 4.20am today

The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
