Pensioner fights for life in hospital after being hit by car on Southmead Road

Police are appealing for information after a pensioner was hit by a car as she crossed the road in Bristol.

The woman, who is in her 80s, was struck by the vehicle on Southmead Road as she crossed near the Henleaze Road roundabout around 5pm yesterday (Tuesday, February 22).

She was taken to hospital where she remains in a ‘critical but stable’ condition.

Police trying to piece together the circumstances behind the crash are looking to speak to anyone who might have seen the woman as she crossed the road or prior to the incident.

The woman was wearing a dark purple jacket and grey leggings and was carrying a dark coloured handbag with brown handles and black pockets.
