A man has died after the emergency services were called to a ‘concern for welfare’ near the railway at St Anne’s in Bristol.

The line that runs through the suburb was shut off after police, firefighters and paramedics descended on Langton Court Road yesterday (March 16) at around 5.20pm.

It is understood that concerns for the welfare of a man standing on a bridge over the railway had been raised and a casualty was later reported on the tracks.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police confirmed that a man had been pronounced dead the scene.

They added: “This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
