Hareclive Road firearms incident: Police block Bristol street after ‘shots fired’

Police have blocked a busy Bristol road after ‘gunshots’ were heard in the area.

Around 9.40pm last night (Monday, March 28), Avon and Somerset Police said it received ‘multiple calls’ about a firearm being discharged on Hareclive Road.

Armed officers descended shortly afterwards, with a police helicopter also deployed from South Wales.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Those involved in the incident are reported to have fled the area immediately after the firearm was discharged and it is currently unclear whether anyone has been injured.

“Members of the public can expect an increased police presence in the area as we seek to locate those involved and establish what happened.”

Cordons are still in place on Hareclive Road and Newland Road while police conduct house to house and CCTV enquires as part of their investigation into the incident.

Officers are also examining a car at the scene.

First Bus said its services were not running on Hareclive Road due to ‘a police incident’.

Service 76 is currently diverting via Bishport Avenue, Queens Road and Grange Road beofre resuming normal its normal route at Church Road.
