Driver accused of pretending to be a police officer appears in court

A man appeared in court accused of tricking a motorist into thinking he was a police officer today (January 11).

Thomas Cox, 21 of Quantock Close, Warmley, pleaded not guilty to impersonating an officer or special constable at Bristol Magistrates Court.

It relates to an incident in Fishponds Road in Bristol on December 12.

Cox, who wore glasses and a black t-shirt in the dock, also denied driving while disqualified, but pleaded guilty to driving without insurance.

The case has been adjourned for a trial at the same court on March 3.

Cox was granted unconditional bail.
