Police have released a CCTV image of two men they’d like to speak to after a Bristol pensioner was conned out of thousands of pounds by rogue traders who led him to the bank to withdraw money.

The man, who is in his 70s, was at home in the Ashton area when he answered the door to two men offering to carry out garden clearance work.

They quoted him £2,700 and, after the pensioner agreed, they led him to a bank in Bedminster to withdraw the funds before carrying out the work to a poor standard.

The men returned the next day and demanded a further £3,000 to complete the work, once again leading the victim to the bank where they waited for him outside.

Luckily, bank staff realised that something wasn’t right and called the police.

The offenders left the area before they could be identified, with police now launching an appeal to identify the two men.
