The victim of a fatal stabbing attack in Bristol has been named by police as they charge a man with murder as part of their investigation into the death last week.

Kunta Ceesay, 25, died from injuries sustained in the attack in Stapleton Road on Easton, on Friday, September 20.

Shakawan Siddiqi is accused of the murder and has now been charged.

The 32-year-old, of Wade Street in St Paul’s, has been remanded into custody and will appear at Bristol Magistrates Court later today (September 23).

Two women, aged 36 and 47, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have also been released under investigation.

The preliminary results of a forensic post-mortem examination found Ceesay sustained a stab wound to the chest, with the formal identification process to be completed this week.
