Brislington murder probe: Five arrested after man dies in street and six others injured

Five men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after one man died and six others were injured during a fight in south Bristol.
A murder probe has been launched following the ‘shocking and violent’ incident, which happened in the Brislington area just before 10pm last night (Tuesday, May 24).

Hide AdPolice arrived on Bloomfield Road after being alerted by a member of the public about a ‘disorder’ on the street.
One dead and six injured
They found one man with serious injuries in nearby Runnymead Avenue, and despite being given emergency first aid, he died at the scene.
At least six other men suffered non life-threatening injuries and were either taken to or self-attended hospital.
It is thought that several people who arrived at the scene in vehicles were involved.

Hide AdOne car was left abandoned and has now been recovered for a forensic examination.
Police have arrested five men in connection with this incident, all on suspicion of murder.
A ‘shocking and violent’ act
Ch Insp Mike Buck, of Avon and Somerset Police said: “This is a shocking and violent act which happened in residential streets in Brislington and a comprehensive police investigation will now be carried out with the aim of identifying all those responsible.”
Ch Insp Buck added that the force knew the incident would be ‘of great concern’ to nearby residents, but didn’t believe there was any ongoing risk to the wider public.

Hide AdHe said: “We’d like to reassure the public although we’re in the early stages of an investigation, we’re currently treating this as an incident involving people known to each other.
“One man has tragically lost his life and we’ll be prioritising informing his next of kin and giving them the care and support they need at this desperately sad time.”
Residents urged to come forward
The incident is likely to have been witnessed by people in the area and police are urging anyone with information which would assist with their enquiries to come forward now.
The force particularly wants to hear from anyone who might have dash cam footage or video doorbell/private CCTV footage.
