Arrests made as armed police swoop on M5 near Bristol

Armed police arrested three people after a car was pulled over on a stretch of motorway near Bristol.

Officers descended on the M5 nortbound at around 10.30am this morning (Tuesday, March 15).

One lane was sealed off between junctions 20 and 19 as they stopped a vehicle and arrested three people in connection with an ongoing investigation.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Recovery of the vehicle has now taken place and the road has re-opened.”

The spokesperson added that no other vehicles were involved and that the individuals had been arrested on behalf of Devon and Cornwall Police.
