Thunderstorms and slow-moving heavy showers are forecast for parts of Wales and South West England this afternoon.

Some areas could see 20-30mm of rain fall in just two hours and a thunderstorm warning has been issued. In a small number of areas, up to 50mm of rain could fall.

The yellow weather warning is in place from 1pm until 8pm on Saturday (May 18), with sudden flooding and disruption expected in places, as well as difficult driving conditions.

The Met Office says there's a chance some communities could be temporarily cut off by flooded roads.

The Met Office adds that if you are travelling in areas covered by the warning, check the road conditions and amend your travel plans if necessary.

Last Saturday was the hottest day of the year so far but was immediately followed by dramatic thunderstorms the next day.
