There are long queues on major routes in Bristol this evening after a number of incidents, including a crash involving a bus and several burst water mains. First West of England has reported delays to several of its routes as a result of the road closures.

Firstly, the junction of Gypsy Patch Lane with the A38 Gloucester Road, next to the Royal Mail depot in Filton, is blocked. Images from the scene show a bus and a car in the road as a result of a crash. Bristol World has contacted Avon and Somerset Police for more information, but Google Maps is showing delays in the area.

On the other side of the city, a number of burst water mains are causing disruptions, including the closure of Bath Road in Brislington. Bristol Water has said in statement: “We have had reports of leaks in the road on Bath Road, Brislington. There is a road closure in place to keep everyone safe and to assist with investigations. We strongly advise you avoid this area and find alternative routes while this essential work is underway. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

A burst water main has also closed Cumberland Road, according to First West of England which has had to divert the M2 from the road. A one-way system is also in place up Bishopsworth Road because of a burst main outside the Cross Hands pub in Bedminster Down, Bristol Water has said.

In Brislington, First has diverted the 349, 39 and X39 down Alison Road and Sandy Park Road. The burst water main in the area has led to long delays on nearby roads including Wells Road and the A4174.
