Bristol road closures: nine for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Bristol's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that nine closures are due to start over the next two weeks:

• M4, from 8pm September 11 to 6am September 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 northbound, junction 15 closed for SMART motorway improvement works, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22, M4 eastbound to junction 20.

• M4, from 8pm September 11 to 6am September 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 20 entry slip road from M5 southbound, junction 15 closed for SMART motorway improvements, diversion via M4 westbound, exit, junction 22 return to M4 to junction 20.

• M32, from 9pm September 11 to 6am September 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 1 exit slip road lane closure for horticultural works.

• M32, from 10pm September 12 to 6am September 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 both directions, junction 1 to 3, lane closure for barrier works.

• A4, from 10pm September 12 to 6am September 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 exit slip road and entry slip road from M49 closure for drainage, diversions, exit slip road - southbound to junction 19 and return, entry slip road - Continue to St Brendans Rbt, return to entry slip from Avonmouth (Y-loop).

• M5, from 9pm September 15 to 6am September 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 to 19, lane closure for surveys.

• M5, from 10pm September 15 to 6am September 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, Portway roundabout to M5 / M49 entry slip closed for drainage works. Diversion via Bristow Broadway, St. Brendans roundabout, southbound, entry to M5, junction 19 and back.

• M5, from 9pm September 18 to 5am September 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 to 19 - lane closures for structure maintenance.

• M5, from 9pm September 20 to 5am September 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 19 to 18 lane closures for structure maintenance.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
