Bristol road closures: almost a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Bristol's motorists will have 11 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing a holdup of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M5, from 10pm September 26 to 6am October 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 entry slip from the M49 closed. Includes lane closures on the M5, junction 18 to 19. For maintenance works. Diversion via the alternative entry slip from St Brendans Roundabout.

And a further 10 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A4, from 8pm October 10 to 6am October 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A4 both directions Crowley way Avonmouth carriageway closed for resurfacing, diversion via St.Andrews road, Third way, Avonmouth way.

• M32, from 9pm October 10 to 6am October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 southbound, junction 2 to 3 lane closure on slip roads and main carriageway for Bristol City Council sign installations.

• M49, from 10pm October 11 to 6am October 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 northbound, M5, junction 18a to M4, junction 22 - lane closure for drainage works.

• A4, from 11pm October 12 to 6am October 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18 and 18a - carriageway closed between exit and entry slip roads including entry slip road to M49 northbound, *diversion via, junction 18 exit slip road, turn at Portway roundabout, re-join M5 northbound. Follow the Solid diamond symbol.

• A4, from midnight, October 16 to 11pm December 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A4 Portway Roundabout to St Andrews Roundabout used by GWR Railway Replacement Buses on Bristol Temple Meads - Severn Beach route.

• M32, from 10pm October 17 to 6am October 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M32 both directions, junction 3 to 2 - carriageway closure for central reservation works, diversion northbound, - B4051, A38, B4469 Muller Road, re-join M32. For southbound, diversion follow above in reverse.

• M32, from 10pm October 17 to 6am October 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 southbound, junction 1 to junction 2 - Lane closure for Electrical works.

• M5, from 8pm October 18 to 6am October 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18 entry slip from Portway roundabout (flyover) closed for survey works. Diversion via A4 to St Brendan's Roundabout.

• M32, from 10pm October 20 to 6am October 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 1 exit slip, lane closure for horticultural works.

• M4, from 10pm October 24 to 6am October 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 22 entry slip road closed for horticulture, diversion M49 southbound to M5, junction 18a, M5 North to M4.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
