Bristol road closures: a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Bristol's motorists will have 12 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 12 closures are due to start this week:

• M5, from 10pm July 18 to 6am July 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 entry slip from the M49 closed. Includes lane closures on the M5, junction 18 to 19. For maintenance works. Diversion via the alternative entry slip from St Brendans Roundabout.

• M49, from 9am to 3.30pm on July 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M49 northbound, Avonmouth hard shoulder closure for vegetation works.

• M5, from 9am to 3.30pm on July 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 18 to St Brendans roundabout hard shoulder closure for vegetation works.

• M5, from 9am to 3.30pm on July 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 18 entry slip road from Avonmouth hard shoulder closure for vegetation works.

• A4, from 9.30am to 4pm on July 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A4 eastbound, Crowley Way to St Brendans roundabout - lane closure for electrical works.

• M4, from 10pm July 22 to 6am July 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound to M4 eastbound, slip closed for electrical works, diversion via M4, junction 22, U-Turn to join M4 eastbound.

• M32, from 9pm July 25 to 5am July 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 2 to 1 - lane closure for electrical works.

• M32, from 10pm July 25 to 6am July 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M32 both directions, junction 3 to 2 - carriageway closure for central reservation works, diversion northbound, - B4051 / A38 / B4469 Muller Road / re-join M32. For southbound, diversion follow above in reverse.

• M32, from 10pm July 27 to 6am July 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound, junction 2 entry slip road closure for drainage works, diversion via M32 southbound to junction 3.

• M49, from 9pm July 28 to 6am July 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 18 lane closure for technology works.

• M32, from 10pm July 28 to 6am July 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 southbound, junction 2 exit slip closed for drainage and horticultural works. Diversion via M32 southbound to junction 3, turn and return northbound to exit at, junction 2.

• M32, from 9pm August 1 to 6am August 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 southbound, junction 1 to 2 lane closure for electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
