Bristol road closures: a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Bristol's motorists will have 12 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M5, from 6am January 5 to 8pm February 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 18a to 17 lane closure 24 / seven northbound, for fence work and pond removal.

• M32, from 8.30pm January 18 to 6am March 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound and southbound, junction 1 exit slips lane closures for survey works.

• M5, from 9pm May 24 2021 to 5am March 23 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 18 to 19 lane closures in both directions for bridge maintenance.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M5, from 9pm February 8 to 6am February 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5, junction 18 southbound, exit slip closed for resurfacing. Includes southbound, lane closures on approach. Diversion via southbound to junction 19 and return northbound.

• M5, from 9pm February 10 to 6am February 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5, junction 18 southbound, carriageway closed between the exit and entry slips for resurfacing. Diversion via, junction 18 exit and entry slips.

• M5, from 9pm February 11 to 6am February 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5, junction 17 to 18 lane closures southbound, for resurfacing.

• M5, from 9pm February 11 to 6am February 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5, junction 18 southbound, entry slip from Avonmouth closed for resurfacing. No direct access to M5 from St Brendan's roundabout. Diversion via Portway Roundabout, M5 northbound to junction 17 to turn and return southbound.

• A4, from 8pm February 14 to 6am February 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 18 entry slip from Portway roundabout closed for kerbing and resurfacing works. Diversion via Bristow Broadway to access M5 via St Brendans roundabout.

• M32, from 10pm February 14 to 6am February 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M32 northbound and southbound, junction 1 to junction 3 - mobile Lane closures for drainage.

• M5, from 9pm February 15 to 6am February 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5, junction 17 to 18 southbound, lane closures for resurfacing.

• M5, from 9pm February 17 to 6am February 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5, junction 18 southbound, carriageway closed between the exit and entry slips for resurfacing. Diversion via, junction 18 exit and entry slips.

• M5, from 8pm February 21 to 6am February 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 18a to 17 lane closures northbound, for fence work and pond removal.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
