Bristol pub creates pizza to honour Rovers boss Joey Barton

A slice of the profits will go to the Rovers’ Community Trust

A Bristol pub has launched a new pizza in honour of Joey Barton after the Rovers’ boss secured a promotion back to League One.

The Sportsman & Annexe, just off Gloucester Road, is well-known for its pizzas and now the addition of the ‘Joey Barton’ to its menu is sure to go down well with Gas

Sportsman staff member Ian tucks in - his verdict: “It’s delicious!”

Pub staff asked Joey what topping would be on his perfect pizza and he chose spicy chicken, meatballs, pepperoni and BBQ sauce.

The pizza comes loaded with pulled pork, meatballs, pepperoni and BBQ sauce.

For every pizza sold, 50p will go to the Rovers’ Community Trust.

Manager Ashley Bird said: “This pub as been in my family for 32 years. We’ve always followed the Rovers and have a really good working relationship with them.

Manager Ashley Bird said the pub had been following and working with the Gas for decades.

“We thought, fair play to Joe on the last day, getting the Gas up, we thought we’d do something to celebrate that.”

The pub will be serving its Sports Menu, which will include the ‘Joey Barton’ pizza, on matchdays from 12pm.
