After some wet and windy weather over the past week, it seems Bristolians are set to be blessed with warmer days  just in time for the early May Bank Holiday. According to the Met Office, temperatures are starting to heat up today (Thursday, April 27) as Arctic winds that battered the UK over the last few days ease off.

While it could be cloudy on Friday, the mercury is set to spike as high as 18°C in Bristol. This would make the city hotter than Monaco in southern France, where temperatures will only manage to reach 17°C.

Chris Almond, deputy chief meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “By Friday temperatures will have increased so that we will see values around 18-21°C across parts of the UK. The coming bank holiday weekend itself will be a mixture of brighter conditions and showers.

“These showers will tend to be heaviest and most frequent in the west on Saturday. On Sunday most locations can expect to see at least some showers, whereas on the bank holiday Monday the focus for showers is more likely to be the east, with drier conditions elsewhere. Temperatures will be reasonable and above average.”

So, what will the weather be like in Bristol over the May Bank Holiday? Here is the forecast from Friday April 28 and Monday, May 1, according to the Met Office.
