A former massage parlour in Bristol could be turned into a Chinese restaurant.

The Grade II-listed property in Denmark Street was for many years Shadows, which described itself as a ‘five-star massage parlour with a wide range of ladies 24 hours, seven days a week’.

But now a planning application has been submitted to turn it into a new restaurant called Happy Lamb hotpot.

The application has been submitted by Dr Kun Jiang who plans to convert the ground floor into a restaurant.

The building at 6 Denmark Street dates from the late 18th-century and is Grade II-listed.

It forms part of a seven building terrace that was originally houses and is now mainly food businesses.

Denmark Street runs along the side of the Bristol Hippodrome and is already well known for its range of Chinese restaurants, takeaways and supermarket.

The planning application is ‘pending consideration’ according to the Bristol City Council planning portal.
