A man in his 20s has been rushed to hospital after receiving a slash wound after disturbing intruders in the garden on his home in Stockwood.

Emergency services were called to the address on Bifield Gardens at 1.20am today (October 19) after reports of a man sustaining an injury.

After confronting two men he found in his garden, he was assaulted by the offenders who then entered the address and carried out a search of the living room.

The victim was taken to hospital but thankfully his wound is neither life threatening or life changing.

Police say they are now investigating and are treating the incident as an aggravated burglary.

As part of their investigation, they’ll be carrying out house to house enquiries and reviewing CCTV from the area. Specialist crime scene investigators will also examine the property.

Neighbourhood officers are carrying out patrols of the area to provide reassurance.
