A fast-food takeaway in south Bristol could be refurbished and turned into a coffee shop under plans submitted to the city council.

The plans are for Best Kebab, on the corner of West Street and Palmyra Road in Bedminster.

A two-bedroom house would replace a garage at the rear while two one-bedroom flats would be above the new coffee shop, replacing an existing maisonette.

In planning documents, architects said: “The building is very tired and requires investment.

“The site was traditionally a local butcher, but in 2004 planning was granted for a takeaway.

“The property was then fitted out for such and has operated as this since.

“The entire building will be completely refurbished to a high standard

“Preparing the building for its next chapter of its life, on the ground floor it is proposed to have a coffee shop as there is not one in the locality.”
