Empyrean Properties Limited wants to convert the old Natwest bank on the corner of Wells Road and Greenmore Road in Knowle into 9 flats.

The plans submitted to the council include 4 one-bed, two-person flats,1 two-bed, three-person flat, 2 one-bed, one-person flats and 2 two-person studios.

The flats would be spread across the old ground floor of the bank and two storeys of offices above.

One person has already objected to the plans, simply writing: “This building should be retained as retail space.”

The building had been used as a bank continuously from 1972 until the branch closed in July 2023, but is currently vacant.

The new flats would be next to an existing Lloyds Bank and opposite Broadwalk Shopping Centre, which is due to be demolished for hundreds of new flats and some shops.
