This year’s Bristol Harbour Festival will feature Dragon Boat Racing, steamboat processions and a ‘very special’ flotilla to close the show.

The organisers have announced the new additions alongside returning favourites, former fireboat The Pyronaut and the cardboard boat race, for the event on Bristol’s floating harbour from July 19 to 21.

The festival will also debut a new Bristol Rising Stage, programmed by Access Creative College and dBs Institute.

This stage on Queen Square will showcase a diverse line-up of emerging local musical talent, from soulful singer Marns to indie rock band LAKEDOWN.

The Dance Tent, produced by Trinity Community Arts and Movema, will also return to Queen Square, featuring performances spanning various dance genres and styles.

The space will even host a queer DJ night takeover by local LGBTQ+ collective Booty Bass.

Bristol vocalist Eva Lazarus, Bristol-based hip hop artist Nat Oaks, and American indie band Langkamer have been added to the Saturday main stage lineup for the festival.

The festival is also expanding beyond its main footprint, with a new Fringe Festival featuring artists and performers in venues across the wider city centre.

Councillor Tony Dyer, leader of Bristol City Council, said: “The programme for the 2024 Bristol Harbour Festival is truly a fantastic showcase of our city’s heritage, culture and talent.

“From showcasing the best home-grown talent, to the awe-inspiring entertainment that you’ll find on the water, which we are thrilled to see return, it’s going to be a brilliant three days.

“Partnering with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a great opportunity for us to not only witness its nautical talents but also promote safety in and around the water, which is really important for us as a harbour city.”

Bristol Harbour Festival is delivered by Bristol City Council, Proud Events and Swans Events in partnership with Bristol City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) and Redcliffe & Temple BID.
