In a Facebook post, the cinema wrote: “We spent two weeks hard graft in Screen 1 this month doing some refurb works.

“We now have rows of brand new squishy premium seating together and we reupholstered seats elsewhere (lots more legroom!), with brand new carpets and a general tidy up.

“Your continued support makes it possible to invest in these works, so we hope you like it!”

In comments, a customer called the refurb is an “excellent job”, with another calling it “most impressive”.

This cinema is part of a Waitrose development that was carried out in the late 1960s and is built on the site of the original 1930s Orpheus Cinema.
