Bristol Airport jobs: The jobs and salaries being offered today as bosses look to solve travel chaos

Bristol Airport is today (June 9) holding a recruitment event as it continues to deal with a surge in passenger numbers.

With short staffing at a number of UK airports being the reason behind cancelled and delayed flights, Bristol Airport is keen to hire more workers in order to be ready for the fast approaching summer season.

Today (June 9), Bristol Airport hosted a job fair between 11am and 2pm to highlight the wide range of current job opportunities they have to offer.

And on its website there are currently 41 job vacancies within the airport, including roles in customer service, hospitality, retail, airline handling, parking and security.

Lots of these are permanent positions, and some are seasonal roles - ideal for students or those who just want a taster of working at the airport.

Debbie Hartshorn, people director, Bristol Airport said: “We are experiencing a fantastic recovery for the Airport having already seen a large increase in passenger numbers over the Easter period and the summer season is predicted to be even busier.

“This is an exciting time for the aviation sector, however, there is no denying that the industry, like many others, is facing a challenging recruitment market.

“No two days working at an airport are the same, and our teams need a good mix of those starting out in their working career and those with more life experience.

Here’s a short list of some of the jobs available to apply for; including salary and hours.

Desk Host - OCS

Salary: £10.20 per hour

Hours: 40 hours a week

Description: A Desk Host will efficiently run either the landside or airside desk and be the friendly first point of contact for all passengers requiring assistance as per their requirements.

Ramp Services Agent - Swissport

Salary: £11 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours a week

Description: If you enjoy working with people in a dynamic environment, apply to be a Swissport Ramp Agent, where you will play a vital role in the airport operation.

Sales Advisers - Superdrug

Salary: Age 18-21 - £8.44ph, Age 21-22 - £10.21ph, Age 23+ - £10.45ph

Description: Superdrug is looking for confident, outgoing individuals who are very much approachable and willing to go the extra mile to for customers. Experience preferred but not essential as full comprehensive training is provided.

Lounge Service Hosts - Swissport

Salary: £11 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours a week

Description: All hosts will be multi skilled and will operate the reception, bar and self-service area, as well as working as a general host and a back of house assistant.

Team member - Tortilla

Wage: Hourly pay of £11.07 up to £15.07, £500 joining bonus, £5 extra per hour for all hours worked over 30 hours.

Hours: Various shifts are available throughout the day.

Customer Service Representative - Global Exchange

Salary: £26,280 per annum

Hours: 12 hour shifts on a 3 on, 3 off pattern

Description: Global Exchange are looking for individuals who are sales motivated, energetic, numerate, responsible and reliable and can demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure. You would be providing a professional, fast, friendly and efficient service to customers.

Silver Zone Operations Assistant - Bristol Airport

Salary: £23,071 per annum

Hours: 12 hour shifts on a 4 on, 4 off pattern

Desciption: Reporting to the Silver Zone Parking Operation Coordinators, you’ll be assisting with the smooth and efficient running of our Valet Parking operation. Supporting in the logistics of our car park vehicle movements and ensuring the safe custody of vehicles and car keys.

PVC Driver - Bristol Airport

Salary: £25,071 per annum

Hours: Annualised hours (please confirm on your application which working pattern would suit you best)

Description: You’ll be responsible for driving shuttle buses. You will be a friendly face to passengers whilst delivering them safely to and from the terminal.

Customer Service Agent - Arrow Cars

Salary: from £11 per hour

Hours: Various shifts available

Desciption: Arrow is the UK’s largest airport Private Hire transport provider and they are looking for a Customer Service Agent to join the team. You will be fully trained on the computer systems.
