There are still ongoing delays and cancellations to some flights at Bristol Airport today (August 29) following a network-wide technical fault with air traffic control systems.

Holidaymakers travelling after the bank holiday weekend have been impacted by travel delays and cancellations after the technical problems meant flight plans had to be input manually by controllers.

More than 500 flights were cancelled across the UK by Monday afternoon and hundreds more delayed. Many passengers were stuck abroad with no flights back to the UK for up to a week and others were left aboard grounded aircraft for hours. Other travellers arrived at airports to discover their flights had been cancelled or delayed by several hours.

What’s the latest on flights at Bristol Airport?

Many scheduled flights are departing Bristol Airport this morning but a few have been cancelled.

The easyJet EZY 2723 flight to Alicante meant to depart at 10.15am has been cancelled and has the 10.35am easyJet flight EZY 2831 to Venice. The 11am easyJet flight EZY 245 to Inverness has also been cancelled.

There have also been cancellations to flights scheduled to arrive at Bristol Airport this morning. These include easyJet flights from Belfast, Glasgow, Amsterdam and Inverness.

Thousands of passengers were stranded at airports across the UK on bank holiday Monday after the technical fault and there have also been complaints from passengers trying to get into the UK that their flights were delayed due to the problems.

In a statement apologising for the failure, the National Air Traffic Services (NATS), the UK’s leading provider of air traffic control services, said controllers were having to input flight plans manually due to the fault with its systems.
