Bedminster Winter Lantern Parade scheduled for February 12

The event, known as ‘Bemmy Lanterns’, was launched 11 years ago and features a colourful parade with dance troupes and bands through the centre of Bedminster.

Hide AdIt was cancelled last year - and organisers this year have decided to reschedule it for Saturday, February 12.
The project’s steering group chairman Ade Williams, who featured in the New Years Honours list, posted a message on social media explaining why.
He said: “This was a difficult decision to make but myself and members of the project steering group have looked carefully at the risks involved in running a large public outdoor event at this time, with rising numbers of Omicron infections affecting people across Bristol.
“Our priority has to be on keeping our Bedminster community as safe as possible at this challenging time and we therefore decided to move the event to 12th February.”
Mr Williams, of Bedminster Pharmacy, also thanked people for their support and hard work ahead of the event.
He added: “We’re now focusing on putting on a splendid event in February.”
