‘Absolutely heartbroken’ - coffee shop owner given notice to leave Kings Weston House

‘Unfortunately I have been given my notice to vacate the premises’

A popular coffee house at the Grade I-listed Kings Weston House will close in February, its ‘absolutely heartbroken’ owner has announced. Paige, owner of Morgans Coffee House, broke the news to her customers on Facebook today.

She said that she’d been given notice to vacate the site beneath the mansion where the coffee shop is located. And she thanked all her customers who she had served over the past five years.

The coffee house is described as a ‘little-known gem’ and serves food and hot drinks. It is also a welcoming spot for dog walkers. On Google, the coffee house is rated 4.8 stars, and is clearly popular with locals who reacted with sadness to the news today.

In her message, Paige said the coffee shop’s last working day would be February 28 - although she said she had been given permission to open Mondays until then, alongside Tuesday to Sunday each week.

She wrote: “Unfortunately I have been given my notice to vacate the premises which means we have no choice but to close, I am absolutely heartbroken by this decision but change is imminent in this crazy world we’re living in currently.

“I’d like to thank all of you for your continued support over the years you’ve all become more than just ‘customers’ to me we have our own cafe family.”

Responding to messages of support and thanks on Facebook, she wrote: “Thank you all so much for your kind words and support it really is amazing I’m truly blown away it means the world to me & all the staff , it’s been a pleasure serving you all for almost five years.”

Kings Weston House, designed by the architect behind Blenheim Palace, was completed in 1719 and was once the home of Sir Edward Southwell, Secretary of State for Ireland.

Today, it is used for private events such as weddings and wakes.
