9 rare photos of ‘rising star’ Amy Winehouse performing small Bristol gig in 2004

The legendary singer appeared in the city 20 years ago when she was still relatively unknown

With new Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black released in April, there is renewed interest in the troubled singer who died in 2011, aged just 27.

Winehouse performed in Bristol a number of times early in her career, including gigs at Louisiana and the Fleece.

In 2004, just a year after the release of her debut album, Frank, Winehouse was still relatively unknown to the wider public.

That year, she released the singles In My Bed and Pumps, and appeared at the Glastonbury Festival, and her tour included a Bristol gig.

Here are nine rare photos of Amy Winehouse on stage at Bristol’s 02 Academy on November 17, 2004.
