8 reasons why Bristol is officially one of the most inspiring cities in the UK

Bristol has beaten London and Edinburgh in the Top 15

A new study by Aura Print has ranked the UK’s most creative and artistic cities and Bristol is in the top three.

The cities are ranked based on a number of factors such as the density of art galleries and museums, the number of theatres and comedy clubs, the number of art and design universities, the number of creative art jobs and even how many street art hashtags on Instagram and TikTok.

Bristol has made it to number three in the Top 15, with only Manchester and Brighton outscoring it. London came fourth in the survey and Edinburgh was number five.

As the birthplace of the legendary Banksy and the host of the Europe’s largest graffiti festival, Upfest, it’s no surprise that Bristol came on top in regard to street art.

Bristol scored the second highest number of Instagram street art hashtags (153K Instagram posts), only beaten by London in this category.

Beyond the art on the streets, Bristol scored well thanks to its 27 art galleries, 15 theatres and eight comedy clubs.

Here are eight photos of why Bristol is officially one of the most inspiring cities in the UK.
