8 family-friendly Bristol pubs with gardens and great children’s play areas
Let the little ones burn off some energy as the grown-ups enjoy a drink at these child-friendly boozers
As any parent of toddlers will know, finding a child-friendly pub with a decent play area is top of the agenda when it comes to the weekend.
Of course, an inside children’s play area is welcome all year round, but a safe and secure outdoor playground when the sun shines is even better.
Bristol has its fair share of pubs that welcome families with young children and many go the extra mile when it comes to providing great facilities.
Here are eight of the most family-friendly Bristol pubs that cater for kids as much as the adults. And if we’ve missed your favourite, do let us know so we can update the list.

1. The Eastfield, Henleaze Road
The Eastfield has one of the largest sun-trap pub gardens in Bristol and it includes a huge play area with bespoke wooden climbing frames and swings, plus a pond and boules pitch. There’s also a wood-fired oven so you can enjoy pizzas on the terrace.

2. Mill House, Emersons Green
Located behind a small retail park, the Mill House pub and family restaurant has a large outdoor area but also a Wacky Warehouse play space for the kids inside.

3. The Gloucester Old Spot, Kellaway Avenue
This popular family-friendly pub in Horfield has a huge and colourful beer garden with a covered, heated terrace and a marquee. The kids’ menu is excellent, too, with most dishes under £7.

4. The Farm, Hopetoun Road
Next to St Werburgh’s City Farm, The Farm pub appeals to grown-ups in the evenings with its line-up of DJs but the large garden draws local families when the sun shines.
