Queen Elizabeth II made several visits to Bristol during her life, first arriving in 1950 while still known as Princess Elizabeth.
Returning six years later, as Queen, she opened the new Council House before touring St Mary Redcliffe church alongside the Duke of Edinburgh.
In 1958, the Queen returned once again, this time making history by making the first ever long-distance phone call without the help of an operator from the central telephone exchange in Bristol.
Her most recent visit came in 2012 as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour with images from this event captured in the gallery below.
