14 throwback pictures showing how we partied at T4 on the Beach

Blue, Jamelia and Girls Aloud were on stage at T4 on the Beach in Weston in 2005

T4 on the Beach was a staple in the UK music calendar - especially if you were from Bristol. A short trip to Weston-super-Mare would guarantee you a one-day music experience to remember.

The event first took place in 2003 in Great Yarmouth featuring Blue, Jamelia and Girls Aloud before moving to the familiar setting at Weston in 2005. Each year, more than 40,000 would pack the beach until a decision was made to axe the festival in 2012. The musical performances were televised by Channel 4.

T4’s first year at Weston-super-Mare was one to remember as organisers went all out when booking talent to visit the seaside town. Noughties favourites Kaiser Chiefs, Akon, Lemar, Rachel Stevens and Feeder performed as well as Madness and ‘Is This the way to Amarillo’ star Tony Christie. Dot Cotton actress June Brown was also in the crowd.

We’ve picked out 14 images showing the best performances that year - let us know if you attended the event.
