Christmas is less than a month away, and for many of us, the quest for the perfect Christmas present is far from finished.
In an era where internet shopping is the go-to choice due to its vast range, we decided to go on a quest to find the most unusual and quirkiest Christmas gifts in Bristol City Centre.
We went to St Nicholas Market, also known locally as St Nicks, which is the city's oldest market and has been trading since 1743.
The vibrant market houses the largest collection of independent retailers in the city, with over 60 stalls spread across The Glass Arcade, Covered Market and the Exchange.
Until Christmas Eve, St Nicks will be open everyday, Sunday to Friday from 10am to 5pm, Saturday from 9.30am to 6pm, and on December 2 from 9.30am to 8pm as part of the Christmas Market.
We talked with ten traders about their most unusual Christmas gifts in stock and this is what we found:
1. World Fossils
At World Fossils, they offer a wide range of geological wonders hand-sourced from around the world including British fossils and gems, and handmade jewellery. At this unusual store, Sarah highlighted some of their unusual products that cater for both fossil lovers and those interested in gems. These include animals, rings and plants hand-carved from mammoth teeth and salt lamps (ranging from £24 to £45) which have "been proven that it draws all kinds of dampness from the air into the lamp. So people use those purely from a health point of view, as well as pretty.
2. Aardvark
At Aardvark they are proud of their wide range of unusual items at pointing out a few that could make an unusual Christmas gift. These include a large range of beautiful painted giraffes of different sizes ranging from £39.95 for extra small to £75 for small, £95 for medium and £125 for large.
3. The Nook
At The Nook all the products made are handmade by the people running the stall. As an unusual Christmas gift, they recommended the cow photos made by Roger James Hinchliffe Cowman Art. Prices range from £10 for a small photo to £55 for a large framed photo.
4. Fil Blanc
At Fil Blanc, which specialises in a range of products sourced from Mediterranean countries including French soaps and hammam towels from Turkey, Valeria recommended a range of their products as Christmas gifts. These include soya wax candles that last up to 50 hours, bath salts made from Dead Sea salts and lip balm made from beeswax.
