Ten classic Bristol pubs that make up the steepest pub crawl in the city

Just make sure you start at the top of the hill rather than the bottom

As well as boasting some of the finest Georgian houses in the city, many of the streets of Kingsdown are cobbled and have a timeless quality. A short walk from the city centre, Kingsdown was one of Bristol’s first planned suburbs, having been farm land until the 1700s.

The steep streets of Kingsdown also offer some of the best views of the city and it makes a perfect spot for a compact pub crawl, as long as you start at the top and move downhill.

Here are ten pubs that make up a brilliant crawl around Kingsdown. Make sure you start at the Highbury Vaults at the top of the hill and weave your way down to the Open Arms at the bottom of St Michael’s Hill, taking in the backstreet pubs on the way.
