Just 12km north-east of Bristol city centre, the neighbouring villages of Frampton Cotterell and Coalpit Heath have fascinating histories.
Frampton Cotterell once had a hat factory, whilst Coalpit Heath was well known for its coal mining, as the name suggests.
These days, both villages combine the old and the new, with houses in high demand due to close proximity to the Cotswolds, Bristol and good links to the motorway.
Here are ten photos of why Frampton Cotterell and Coalpit Heath are such popular villages with plenty to offer.
2. Tranquil place
The Community Garden at Coalpit Heath was originally the garden of the head teacher’s house of the original Victorian village school, now the Manor Hall Community Centre.
3. Village venue
The Royal British Legion on Ryecroft Road, Frampton Cotterell, has plenty on offer for locals including Thursday bingo and Saturday night dancing.
4. Old school
Dating from 1846, the former Watermore School in Woodend Road, Frampton Cotterell, is still derelict but the site was purchased in 2021 with the proposal to build affordable housing.
