Upfest 2022 Bristol: date of street art festival, do I need a ticket, where is it being held & list of artists

Bristol is a city that is widely revered for being a showcase of the best street art and murals in the world.

The city has been a bearer of some of the best artists, with the renowned Banksy growing up in Easton.

A name that has featured prominently amongst many others within the biggest street art festival ever - Upfest.

In what is a pure celebration of beautiful murals and graffiti, the time for Upfest is already upon us - are you ready?

So ahead of the main festival which takes place at the end of this year’s event, here is everything you need to know about Upfest; from whether you even need a ticket for entry, to the many artists that will be featured.

When is Upfest 2022?

The event will be undertaking a new format in 2022.

Street painting has already begun, with this part of the event starting on Thursday, 5 May 2022.

It is scheduled to come to a conclusion on Wednesday, 25 May - a few days before the main Upfest festival arrives in Bristol.

The final festival is set to run throughout the last weekend of May - starting on Saturday, 28 May and ending on Sunday, 29 May.

Where is it being held?

Due to the new format, this year’s Upfest event will feature across a number of different venues and locales in and around Bristol.

Incredible street art and murals are already beautifully lining the streets of Bedminster, with hundreds of artists showcasing their work via live demonstrations.

It will also have a presence at Ashton Gate Stadium - home to Bristol City Football Club - as well as The Tobacco Factory, which was the original home of Upfest.

The peak of the celebrations will take place during the main festival which bookends the event.

In 2022, the Upfest festival will take place at Greville Smyth Park.

Do I need a ticket to enter Upfest 2022?

Upfest 2022 remains totally free-of-charge for anyone who wishes to attend.

Organisers had once again conducted fundraising - with expected figures of around £30,000 reportedly enough for the festival to continue offering free entry.

You will not need to register your attendance or need any form of ticket to be allowed entry to the event, instead organisations advise those who wish to support the festival to purchase a programme or donate to NACOA.

The deadline for artists to participate in Upfest this year was at the beginning of February 2022.

In total, there are over 400 different street artists attending the festival - selling artwork and joining in on the cultural celebrations.
