While the Met Office predicts highest temperatures forecast near Bristol will go up to 32 degrees, it is still essential that we find ways to stay cool and comfortable.

Perhaps one of the most exciting activities to enjoy on a hot day is to visit a beach or water park, where you can take a dip in the water and indulge in ice-cream with a scenic view.

You don’t have to travel far this summer as there is somewhere like this less than an hour away from Bristol.

Where is the beach?

Cotswold Country Park and Beach is an hour away from Bristol and about a 10 minute drive from Cirencester.

It provides the backdrop for the perfect day out, whether you’re relaxing with friends on the sandy beach or enjoying activities such as water sports and mini golf within the park.

Hire a boat or paddle boards, or even jump onto the fun total wipeout-style inflatable course.

The area around the lakes and paths are suitable for the whole family, with most being pushchair friendly - so the little ones won’t miss out.

What to expect at Cotswold Country Park and Beach?

In recent years the Cotswold Country Park and Beach has gained popularity, hugely due to the Aqua Adventure inflatable course aimed at all ages.

This is the largest inflatable waterpark in the area, and the perfect way to keep children entertained during the summer break.

It will give you the opportunity to take on a total wipeout-style adventure course, where you can climb, slide and fight your way through all the obstacles.

There are 33 pieces to the course to really challenge yourself, including a mammoth tower and an amazing tornado.

The venue is also great for birthday parties, school groups and corporate team building days.

The inflatable water park is based on the North Lake, but the South Lake is just as much fun. You can take a ride on a swan pedalo or a mini port electric boat - both are available to book in advance or hire on the day.

You can also cool down by taking a dip in the swimming lagoon at the beach, where there are lifeguards and plenty of staff on hand if needed.

What about food and drink?

After all that fun and excitement, why not have a picnic in the park, with food and light refreshments from the cafe, pizzeria or beach shack.

The Beach Shack, which overlooks the beach and lake, serves a feasting menu including tasty burgers, hotdogs and delicious nachos.

The beach cafe overhanging the waters edge, serves a selection of sandwiches, drinks, cakes and treats.

The Pizzeria serves freshly made pizza, or if you would prefer you can hire out a BBQ and enjoy your own little summer feast by the beach.
