Bristol high streets have changed dramatically through the years and bigger changers are coming in the next few years, especially around the city centre.
We decided to take a moment to reflect on the changes and asked our readers which stores they used to love visiting and still miss.
The responses ranged from small independent stores to well known chains.
Here are 18 of the great stores we loved and miss dearly.

17. Virgin Megastore
The Virgin Megastore opened in 1992, was located in the Lower Mall of The Mall and closed down in 2007. It was replaced by Zavvi and later by Head record store, which also closed down in 2028. | Wikimedia

18. George's Bookshop
George's Bookshop was opened by William George. He began bookselling at the age of twelve in his uncle’s bookshop, at 26 Clare Street in Bristol. He took over the business on the death of his uncle, and finally moved to Park Street in 1871. William George founded the bookshop at the age of 17 in 1847 at 16 Bath Street. He moved the business to 26 Park Street in 1851 and then up to the top of the hill and into 89 Park Street in 1884. The George family sold the business to Blackwell's in 1929 but the shop kept the name George's. George's Bookshop re-branded as Blackwell's in the mid 90s. | Google Maps
