Tony Robinson’s new Channel 4 history series will hit small screens across the UK tonight - kicking off with an episode all about one of Bristol’s most iconic neighbourhoods. Museum of Us is a detective story meets design challenge which will see people living on seemingly ‘ordinary’ streets given one week to investigate and curate a museum about the history of their area.

This week will see Tony Robinson and his team head to Bedminster in south Bristol, where residents will be challenged to create their very own pop-up museum and uncover, piece-by-piece, the story of Hebron Road. The street, named after a Palestinian town known for its glassware, was one of the first residential streets of terraced houses to be created in Bedminster in the mid-1800s when the area boasted a thriving mining industry.

Time Team and Blackadder star Tony tweeted last night: “Calling all Bristolians! My new series ‘ Museum of us’ airs tomorrow night at 9pm on More4. The first episode focuses on Bedminster!!”. As they begin with their own personal connections, the Bedminster residents will gather evidence that tells the story of Hebron Road through time - and learn how it fits into Britain’s national history.

The four-part series will also feature episodes in Birmingham, Aberystwyth and Norwich. Kate Thomas, commissioning editor for More4, said: “Museum of Us is a fascinating and beautiful series. With the inimitable Tony Robinson at the helm and a brilliant team of experts, I know the individual museums built will capture the imaginations of us all and make us wonder about the history to be found on our own doorsteps.”
