Western Slopes: We visit the hidden wildlife haven in Bristol with stunning views and grazing horses

Between Novers Hill and Hartcliffe Way in south Bristol is a wildlife haven with stunning views and grazing horses.

The Western Slopes is on a steep hill with fields and woods where bats, otters, badgers, and birds of prey have been spotted.  

Controversial plans for homes on part of the land were dropped by the council in 2022, and plans for more homes on another part were refused in 2023

We went for an autumn walk in this beloved nature spot, and here’s what we saw - wellies are definitely needed at this time of year:
