“I know friends as well who've been affected and have really needed the support of the Air Ambulance. So if I can do anything to give some fundraising back to them, it'd be brilliant.
“We'd done a few charity bits with the Air Ambulance before. So we were looking at unique ways to do a bit more fundraising. And then over, as all good ideas do, Christmas drinks, we kind of just brainstormed and ended up with the idea of doing this.
“And then the more we looked into it, the more we thought, actually, we can do this. It's a proper challenge that we can achieve.

Heather Hall - The Grand Appeal

Heather will be running to raise money for The Grand Appeal.

The Grand Appeal supported them by providing accommodation, food, tickets to locations and attractions in Bristol help bring back some normality.

“I've been pushing myself, just reminding myself that it's a good cause and I've actually started to enjoy it now which I never thought I would but I've been getting some long runs in, going out in my lunch breaks, my husband's a runner anyway so he always loves to go out getting the sunshine but yeah it's been hard for me but I'm really excited for Sunday, really excited to do something really good and give back.
“Bristol was quite a difficult place for me to come to for a while, especially with all the kind of bad memories and all the stuff that had happened. But it's lovely to be able to kind of reclaim that positivity.
“Being able to recover some of those good memories, do fun things and have that full circle moment of doing something amazing in Bristol and doing something amazing for The Grand Appeal is just all I could ask for.

“So I just want there to be more awareness that charities like this exist and offer, which can change people's lives. They changed our life.
“We may have only been in Swindon and Bristol's not too far away, but just not having to worry about anything when you're at the worst point of your life is just life changing.”

“And it's been as and when I can work it around having a small person. Which has been a bit of a challenge, but I've done as much as I can, as fit as I can be, to run the 10k on Sunday. “

“And some individuals have raised over £200 each, so that's really good for us.
“And everyone is running because they're passionate about the cause.”
Gillian added: “We're really proud of our runners because some of them have never really run before. So they chose to run because they wanted to support us. We're really, really grateful for the support.”
