Located to the outskirts of Bristol, in the nearby village of Cleeve, Cleeve Nursery and Garden centre is an independent garden centre with a friendly and soothing atmosphere.
They know the history of every plant in stock and have great pride in their quality. They stock a wide array of plants including aquatic plants, climbers, herbs and trees.

The building also hosts the Potager Café which is open daily and has both outdoor and indoor seating.
The café is dog friendly, and there ae jars of biscuit threats for our four-legged friends around the till area.
The menu offers an all day breakfast menu which features breakfast sandwiches, muffins and variations of English Breakfast among other dishes, daily home made lunches, including an old favourite ham, egg & chips, soups and pastries as well as a selection of cakes, including homemade cakes, and a kids menu.

We decided to order a Hungry Potager - pork sausages, smoked back bacon, hash browns, fried egg, herby mushrooms, beans and toast - without the egg or beans and extra mushrooms from the all day breakfast menu for £13.
We also ordered hot chocolate with marshmallows and oat milk (at no extra cost!) for £3.60, and upon recommendation from a member of staff, a slice of ultimate carrot cake (£3.70) for dessert.

Hide AdBeing sunny, I decided to sit outside were there was a lovely breeze and could overlook the lovely display of outdoor plants. My drink and main meal were brought to the table within 10 minutes of ordering.
The hot chocolate was standard and not overly chocolatey but had a generous amount of sweet marshmallows and a nice foamy top.
As for the Hungry Potager, it also came with some tomatoes which was a nice surprise. The potatoes were herby with thin crunchy exterior and very soft middle, whilst the sausages were slightly chewy, thick and juicy. The Portobello mushrooms were juicy and had an earthy hint and the bacon was a bit chewy, not oily and not too dry. Overall, it was quite a filling dish.
The carrot cake came just in time as I was finishing the last bites of my main meal. The slice was crumbly, dense and bursting with flavour. It had a thick layer of sweet icing on top which paired well with the rest of the cake.
