Six restaurants in Bristol have been victorious in the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2024.

Indian restaurant Dhamaka on Clare Street in the Old City has won Independent Restaurant of the Year in South England and Wales, after customers casted their votes online to help decide award winners.

While Bristol favourites Mayflower, Pizza Workshop, Oowee, Rock Salt and NOA Japanese were crowned winners in cuisine categories.

A Deliveroo spokesperson said: "Dhamaka - which means ‘explosion’ - symbolises the vibrant flavours and ingredients that can be found in their street-food-style dishes, including delicious curry bowls and tandoori breads."

Vinay Reddy, founder and head chef at Dhamaka, added: "We are blown away to have won Independent Restaurant of the Year South England & Wales 2024, given the calibre of restaurants we were up against.

"We've been serving our food to the community since 2019, and we are so thankful to our customers and partners like Deliveroo, who have supported us along the way.

The full list of winners of the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2024 in Bristol include: 

  • Independent Restaurant of the Year South England & Wales 2024:  Dhamaka
  • Best Chinese in South England & Wales: Mayflower
  • Best Pizza in South England & Wales: Pizza Workshop
  • Best Indian & Nepalese in South England & Wales: Rock Salt 
  • Best Burger & American in South England & Wales: Oowee
  • Best Japanese in South England & Wales: NOA Japanese

This year saw a total of 60 awards up for grabs, with over 66,000 votes cast by customers over a two-week period.

Sri Lankan restaurant Nadu was also in the running to be crowned Independent Restaurant of the Year in South England and Wales but lost out to Dhamaka.
