But how do restaurants get a Michelin star - and have any Bristol eateries made the cut?

What are Michelin star awards?

To gain a Michelin star, a restaurant must fit certain criteria, which involves using quality products, mastery of flavour and cooking techniques, personality of the chef in the cuisine, value for money, and consistency.

This year’s guide includes one new Three Star restaurant - Cumbria’s L’Enclume. The guide has also awarded five new Two Stars and 19 new One Stars.

Nine restaurants have also been awarded a Michelin Green Star - including one in Bristol.
