It’s still cold and icy so what better way to warm up than with a curry in one of Bristol’s many Indian restaurants?

There are countless Indian restaurants and takeaways dotted around the city, many offering a range of classic dishes and regional specialties. Here are nine of the best Indian restaurants according to Tripadvisor.

Salkaara Having made its name in Cardiff, Salkaara opened next to Waitrose in Henleaze in July 2020. Chef Santhosh hails from Kerala and his menu leans towards South Indian cuisine so expect dishes like chicken curry with roasted coconut and spices, and Keralan fish curry. 45-47 Northumbria Drive, Henleaze, Bristol BS9 4HN.

Coronation Curry House Long-established, the Coronation Curry House is well known for its good value Indian dishes. Expect a combination of old favourites and chef specials with stand-out dishes including the chicken tikka dhansak and the king prawn khusboo, a medium bhuna-style curry with mint sauce.190 Coronation Road, Bristol, BS3 1RF.

Indian Rassasy Indian Rassasy owner Shamshuddin Bagalkote worked at the popular Urban Tandoor before opening his own restaurant in Hotwells. Blue Ginger Bengal cuisine is the style at Blue Ginger, a well established restaurant on the A37 Wells Road in Whitchurch. The private dining room at the rear of the main restaurant is particularly popular for larger groups and parties. 36-38 Gilda Parade, Whitchurch, Bristol, BS14 9HY.

Indian Junction Close to the Memorial, Indian junction serves an extensive menu of classic dishes, chef specials and authentic street food. Ganesha Since it opened in 2008, Ganesha has become one of the go-to Indian restaurants south of the river. Urban TandoorTucked away just off the city centre close to the law courts, Urban Tandoor has won multiple awards since it opened in 2014. Curry House Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Curry House in Bath Road is now Bristol’s longest-running Indian restaurant. The biryani and balti dishes are hugely popular, as are tandoori grill dishes and chef specials like king prawn karahi and honey chicken tikka. 393 Bath Road, Brislington, Bristol, BS4 3EU.

Tikka Flame In the heart of the Harbourside area, Tikka Flame is popular with tourists and locals alike. Recently taken over by the owners of Bristol restaurants Ganesha and Coronation Curry House, the kitchen is open-plan so diners can see their food being cooked.
